More than 800 invited guests of all ages enjoyed a fun day out at the Callide Mine Family Day.

Batchfire Resources welcomed employees’ family and friends to the event, as well as industry partners, local suppliers, and neighbours from the Callide Valley.

The Batchfire team hosted a variety of family friendly activities that showcased mining operations and provided a rare opportunity to see behind-the-scenes at the Callide Mine.

One of the Family Day highlights was seeing amazed children climb onto machines including a new Caterpillar 994K loader, while under the careful supervision of Batchfire staff.

Bus trips took groups on a tour of areas including Trap Gully, allowing mining parents to show their kids exactly what mum or dad’s work looks like.

The younger guests were delighted by the lolly drops while the ice cream van, fairy floss and sausage sizzle were also popular.

There was plenty more for children to enjoy including facepainting, colouring and meeting characters including Elsa, Zuma from Paw Patrol, and a Minion.

The Family Day also provided a unique opportunity for visitors to experience some of the technology and hardware that is central to Batchfire’s operations.

The Emergency Response Team performed truck rescue simulations, while drone flight demonstrations by the Geology department and screenings of blasting videos by Technical Services were popular with guests of all ages.

Having employees on hand to provide more information and answer questions ensured that the Open Day was an educational experience as well as a fun day out.
