LAST September the unimaginable happened… local fruit and veg sellers Michael and Christina Tanzer lost their massive shed and almost everything in it in a terrible fire, devastating their business.
They were underinsured and struggled for 10 weeks without an income. Then, just before Christmas, the Tanzers were back in their familiar spot, across the road from the Biloela Bowls Club on Gladstone Rd, selling fresh farm produce grown in Central Queensland.
The Biloela community has got behind this local family, and it’s been good to see people stopping by their stall to make a purchase.
Buying their watermelons, pineapples, sweet potatoes and more definitely helps, but did you know that there’s another way you can help the Tanzers?
Vote for them!
No, they are not planning on running in the upcoming Federal Election, but they are in the running for a brand new shed.
Australia’s Best Worst Shed is a competition, run by Fair Dinkum Builds, where entrants have the chance to win a new, custom-made shed.
The Tanzers have entered this competition and it would mean so much to them if they won.
“To have a place to park the car and truck, tools and farming equipment in out of the weather away from severe storms would be a fantastic feeling,” Christina told the Biloela Beacon. “A place where we can store our fruit and veg and get back into selling everything that we were selling before the fire.”
The competition runs for two more weeks, ending on January 17. At the end of the 10-week search for Australia’s Best Worst Shed, the top 10 sheds with the most votes will go before the judges who will choose the three grand champions.
First prize is a $30,000 customisable, personally designed shed, second prize is a $20,000 shed and third prize is a $10,000 shed.
Fair Dinkum Sheds said, “We’ll build each winner the shed of their dreams.”
The good news is that you can vote every day right up until the competition closes.
